To bump a lock, you simply insert the new mechanical key into the cylinder in a partway and then push it in using the large screwdriver (rubber is the best). Bumping a lock's cylinder could occasionally remove misaligned wafers that block the lock from turning.
Keys damaged or broken
If your car key breaks or is damaged, it can cause more problems than a simple lockout. It is essential to have a spare key. Don't panic if you don’t have an extra. Your broken car key may be more simple to repair than you think.
The first thing to check is the battery and circuit board. If they're fine the grooves on your key could have gotten worn down. This could cause your key to stick in the ignition or not turn at all. Locksmiths can usually fix this by sanding down the grooves to match the mechanism.
Keys that are older are more likely than newer keys to break due to the strain and strain that is caused by being placed into the lock and turning it. To check if there is a problem with the motor for the window you'll need to disconnect the electrical connections in the door panel. Begin by looking for blown fuses, as they can often be the cause of windows not working. After replacing any fuse that is defective, you should proceed to bypass the window switches by connecting the connector wires to an external battery source, like a car battery or an extension cord with 12 volt power outlets. After connecting the wires to an external source of power and then push the window switch to test the motor. If the motor in the window operates normal and the switch is not in error, then it is likely a mechanical problem with the window mechanism, its track, or perhaps a defective power window regulator.
If the motor for the window does not operate and the switch is in good working order, then there may be an issue with the window guides that keep it in the position. They can become damaged or loosened, which could cause the window to move in its tracks and jam the motor assembly. This is a frequent issue on older vehicles that have gear-type window regulators.
In certain instances, the power window actuators can be worn out or get stuck in their down or up position.
